Properties: A heavy dense which has a high resistance to abrasion. Mechanical properties run high and has low steam-bending rating. Grain needs to be filled. Smells like chocolate when cut.
Grows: Africa in the countries of Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Tanzania and Mozambique. Trees grow to 60' with diameters of up to 3'
Color Specifications: Sapwood is whitish or pale yellow in color. Heart wood is dark brown with near black colored veins.
